Musical song and dance play an indelible role towards cultural Identity with the unique sounds of different cultures very much ingrained in the music. In this performance, you will hear English dances, Spanish songs, a Celtic Jig, beautiful Gershwin melodies, and other sounds that define emotions and experiences across various cultures.

Music can certainly be considered a repository of various cultural stories, folk songs and traditions. Think of this performance as our way to make certain that music is ensuring the continuity of culture across generations.

Our upcoming patriotic concerts on June 29 (Lake Junaluska Stuart Auditorium Tent) and July 6 (Calvary Road Baptist Church, Maggie Valley) will be our annual salute to Old Glory.

The Haywood Community Band will present an entertaining and inspiring musical tribute to America as we honor our country and the people dedicated to preserving our freedom. From Yankee Doodle to George Gershwin, expect a true flag-waver performance featuring our endless parade of firecracker musicians dazzling you all the way down to the tips of your star-spangled toes!
Both concerts begin at 4:00 pm.

Like a determined hiker to reach the summit, our “Summer Fun” and “More Summer Fun” concert program selections will touch on the beauty that surrounds us, overcoming challenges or being as free as the mountain air!

We take you on a musical journey of terrifying tales and friendly fun with a haunting program spooked with fear and danger!
Enough musical drama for an evening full of the unexpected! Come in costume! You will have a Frightacular evening with a “Thriller” ending!
And don’t forget to bring Mummy and Deady!

Attention! Stand Tall! Stomach in! With our own brand of musical “spit-and-polish” – our annual Veterans Day concert salutes our men and women in uniform with stirring marches and much musical pomp. We present a program honoring our brave Americans currently serving, who have served, and especially those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. So…”Fall In” everybody!

Don’t let the holiday frenzy get your tinsel in a tangle! The Haywood Community Band has a great lineup of holiday musical favorites ready to unwrap just for you! Our joyful music will have you dashin’ and prancin’ with Christmas cheer and if you’ve been nice…we might get a visit from you know who! What a better way to get into the Christmas spirit! Besides…didn’t you know….we are your Secret Santa!

If you are into all things British, then take a jolly good musical romp through the British countryside with us! British inspired wind music that brings the hills, gardens, villages, and pubs right to your ears. Enjoy the music of Percy Grainger, Ralph Vaiughn Williams and others! Blimy! We are in for a gobsmacky afternoon

Classical favorites…with no strings attached!  Works of Mozart, Bizet, Rimsky Korsakov, Leonard Bernstein, and others, all expertly transcribed for wind band to bring these works to life.  A great afternoon of great classical works…what could be greater!
